Context Menu and Compatibility Upgrades

Hi everyone!
With the recent news that the End of Dragons isn't the end of the GW2 story (and also playing through the excellent expansion finally) I'm feeling the TacO development vibe again. Since I made the overlay open-source and I was away a bit, there have been various developments, and there were some people (mainly the Blish-Hud devs) who took some of my original ideas and ran with them. Various excellent additions have been implemented to the marker pack format, and I took a couple days to bring TacO closer to the current state of the marker platform.
The latest build adds support for clipboard handling, default marker category disabling and festival tracking. I also loved the idea to hide irrelevant marker categories to help with the clutter in the category context menu. This build also reaps the rewards of the Bugsplat crash tracking already with a bunch of rare crashes fixed. There have also been further performance optimizations around the TacO menu and the startup time.
Map aware context menu decluttering

Change notes:
  • TacO menu performance has been significantly boosted
  • Marker category list now hides irrelevant categories (that don't contain markers for the current map or that are related to completed achievements/achievement bits)
  • Hidden marker categories can be selected to still show the full category tree
  • Added TacO menu setting to opt out of crash logging to Bugsplat
  • Compatibility: Changed XML parser to be case insensitive
  • Compatibility: TacO now supports the automatic clipboard copy functionality
  • Added TacO menu setting to disable clipboard use
  • Compatibility: TacO now supports default enabled/disabled settings for marker categories
  • Added EoD map timers (thx Eclipsetech)
  • Added Dragonstorm map timer (thx Taschenbuch)
  • Fixed a crash that happened when there wasn't enough GPU memory to create a trail
  • Fixed a crash that happened on exit due to the double deletion of a logging backend
  • Fixed log file not always flushing containing data on exit
  • Fixed a crash that happened on exit when the API was being queried during shutdown
  • Compatibility: TacO now supports festival related markers and automatically hides them when the festival isn't active
  • Fixed a minor crash on exit that happened when an empty marker file was to be saved
  • (Hopefully) Fixed windows 8.1 issues that came up with the last builds
  • Rearranged all of the TacO menu's toggle indicators to be on the left side
  • Fixed some issues with the lost golden badge markers
  • Optimized loading time a bit
This update brings some changes to the localization strings, non-English translations must be updated by their maintainers.

  1. I made timers for dragon bash, halloween, 4 winds festival, marionette and lake doric events (some achievements needs them) Would you want to add them to official version of TacO? I am not sure how else i could contact you.

  3. Liking the new features, but I can't find anything on how to use the new features. Namely: clipboard, default disabling, or festival tracking.

    2. All of these are features used by marker pack creators, what you'll notice is that some of the marker packs you have installed behave a bit better. For example when approaching the end of a farming trail you may get a big message that the next waypoint has been copied into the clipboard, or you'll notice that festival routes don't clutter your map anymore but will appear when the festival is active, stuff like this.

    3. I make my own pack which I share with a couple of friends which is why I was asking. There's nothing anywhere telling me how to use these nice new features. I looked in the documentation on the site here but didn't see anything new, and I took a peek inside your festival marker xmls but nothing indicative there either.

What do I need to put in my POI string to make taco put something in the clipboard Ie: waypoint chatcode.

What do I need to put in my markercategory to make taco recognise that it is for a festival?

What do I put in my markercategory to indicate to taco that I want it disabled by default?

    1. I can add a setting to always show all the categories. Do you have appropriate marker packs installed for the new expansion? Tekkit has an updated pack.

  7. Does the new build fix the problem I've had with taco for years, which is categories overlapping? Basically say I move the mouse to PoF, then to Crystal Oasis, then to whatever achievement name, which then opens its own window where I can tick every element of said achievement. All these windows are opening to the right side of the screen, then once they hit the edge they open in direction of the left side of the screen, covering the earlier categories underneath. I can sometimes carefully move my mouse on the edge of each window to avoid this but it's not always possible, a lot of the times it's impossible to untick an achievement category, all I can do is untick twenty achievement parts inside of it but the achievement category itself. I hope it makes sense. I could maybe send you screenshots if that's not clear and it's something you'd be interested in. It seems to me like the option to change the size of taco windows would fix it. Perhaps taco was made on a bigger screen which uses different resolution, I'm on a 15' laptop.

    2. It's something I'm looking into still, but as you can see in this build the clutter of the dropdown is something I'm trying to address slowly.

    1. Do you have the latest version (build 62) that also downloads the marker packs automatically? The one in this post didn't yet.
