Never Commit Blind!

Hi.

Ok, quick bugfix release for festival tracking - turns out that the GW2 API doesn't always function as it's documented, and since there wasn't a festival up until a couple hours ago I couldn't test the tracking properly. Rule one of programming: NEVER COMMIT BLIND! Oh well. New build is up, Tekkit's SAB markers should be visible with it.

You can download the new build from here.

Change notes:

  • Added option to force toggle festival markers on/off
  • Changed the way festival tracking works - it's still bugged for now and will report every festival running, but that's a GW2 API issue that's being worked on
  • Made the online marker pack list's items not close automatically
  • Fixed not working auto-download-toggle option
This update brings some changes to the localization strings, non-English translations must be updated by their maintainers.

  1. I can't get the Tekkit pack to display ingame, it only shows the Reactif trails instead, I've tried disabling them and installing the Tekkit all_in_one.taco file but nada.

    1. Did you install tekkit manually or through the online markers menu? His website seems to be down so the download may fail.
If it was manually, try setting the force festival markers setting in the tactical settings menu, something in the api may have changed since i last checked.

    2. I found a fix for Tekkit not working There is an option in Tactical display settings --> [] Show festival markers when festival is inactive. That needs to be checked. for some reason it only needs to be checked for Tekkit

    3. I don't seem to have that option under Tactical display settings. I tried setting trails to always on, but that didn't work either.

  3. after extracting build 60 and running, it says to update. 2nd thing: it says taco.exe is from unknown source, it wasnt like that before.

    1. I'll check the update checker later today, as for an unknown source it's just that the binary hasn't been checked by your av company/microsoft yet since it's a fresh release. Should go away in a while.

  4. I'd really love if there was a setting that you can toggle on and off for the "Category Hidden" feature. I greatly preferred the old way where it showed everything all at once, kinda stuck on r54 for now because of that :(

    1. Will put a setting for this in the next build in a couple days.
Apparently the vocal minority who didn't like the old way was... well... vocal enough for me to think this would be universally prefered :)

  5. Hi, really love TacO and what it does. But it made me a bit sad that you turned it into windows11, hiding a lot of stuff behind sub-menus. It's really tedious finding what you want, searching different sub-menus behind "hidden categories"...
Is there anyway I could reverse this on my own?

    1. Literally answered this 10 minutes ago :D Next build will have an option to disable the category hiding in a couple days.

  6. Feedback on poidata.xml

While it is kinda neat having the markers grouped together by mapid, it's a nightmare trying to find the marker you just put down if you have a bunch of markers in there from other projects etc.. Unless you know every mapid off the top of your head.

    4. That file is not there - i even tried to run it again and checked again and there is no file by that name n either the place where i extracted and attempted to run from nor is it n the zip file i extracted from when i open without extracting - sry accidentally made another post vs replying

    5. Ok so i extracted it actually 3 different locations for testing purposes - i have my gw2 on a separate drive example being say drive e: from the drive my windows runs on which is c: i tried extracting it n a folder right next to the guild wars 2 folder called just taco that i made i also tried putting a folder directly on the desktop and extracting it there n all instances same result no change i start taco it appears to start n task manager but it quickly stops using processor power n like 2 seconds maybe less and within a min or so its no n the task manager anymore and nothing ever happens n gw2

    6. Well without the log files all I can say is that the one minute limit indicates that taco is not finding the gw2 window with the appropriate mumble id. If you're starting gw2 with the -mumble option that may cause something like this. The lack of a log file is very odd.

    7. I went ahead and checked into the write thing on the folder and sub folders and i made sure all of them had write permissions tried again no change - also tried running as admin many times no change either

    10. OK so success yay ty for your help as far as what the solution was this is what i did exactly - i made a folder on the desktop made sure it had write permissions then i extracted the files into that folder i pulled up gw2 i made sure my antialiasing wasnt on FXAA i just turned it off then i restarted gw2 and i minimized every window and then i tried to start taco again and this time a tiny pop up n the side said it was auto containing it and it gave me the option to not do that again so i closed gw2 reopen gw2 and then tried taco again after i had logged n and bam it worked yay idk what part of that specifically did what but the tiny box on the side that was auto containing it wasnt showing at all so idk exactly what part of that made it start showing

    1. Make sure you extract TacO into a folder where it has write permissions. So anywhere inside Program Files for example is decidedly not a good idea.

  9. Tekkit's All In One Marker Pack does not appear to be working. I can see it on the online marker pack dropdown (and have it checked off) but it does not appear. All other marker packs seem to be working. Any advice?

    1. Tekkit's site is down, I'll be working on a solution for a private fallback archive for these cases for the next build, and also a status indicator for the online packs.

  10. Getting the same thing. From what I can tell tekkit's Web site is down. That might be causing the issue.

There's a way to download his pack separately but I don't know how to incorporate it into Tac0.

    1. Just copy it into the POIs folder and restart TacO.
